Couples & families

Couples therapy

The same fight, in different clothes.

What you might recognize

Most couples come in with a familiar dispute. For some it began with something specific, like an affair, a new baby, or an illness. For others it’s years of small things: a gap in desire, disagreements about parenting or power often shaped by different backgrounds, or a conversation that quietly stopped. Many are interracial, interfaith, or immigrant and non-immigrant couples, where two histories, families, and sets of expectations meet. Underneath it all is usually a pattern of reaching and pulling away that has taken on a life of its own. These patterns were built between you, and they can be rebuilt between you, too.

Coming in together

If you found this page

You don’t have to know exactly what’s wrong, or have a plan for fixing it. Reaching out first doesn’t make this yours to carry alone, and once we begin, you’ll both be doing the work. My role is to help you see it clearly.

If someone shared it with you

No one is here to be blamed or fixed, and nothing has been decided about you before you arrive. You’ll have just as much say in how this goes. Whatever you’re feeling about it is welcome.
